Current Assignments

Everyone is Excited about the Final Four. With a Michigan game making to the Playoff we are also
entering the final 4 here at school For us it is the final 4th marking period. Her are our plans for the last 9 weeks.
8th Grade- Did a wonderful job finishing "The Giver" reflections. They have taken a virtual field Trip on Google Earth to see the location of where Anne Frank and her Family lived. They have explored the Anne Frank Museum and reflected upon what lide was like living in the Annex. I llok forward to posting these insites to the Mega Bites and Messages Blog
7th Grade- After finishing up animation movies the students are beginning to program in a a 3D language called " Alice". This programming language was designed for middle schoo age children as a way to combine 3d graphics with simple programing methods. After learning Scractch las year I know the students will enjoy switching from a 2D to 3D environment. After the programing unit is finished they will create a Digital Art Porfolio and use either vemo or voice thread to complete the program. If time allows we will learn some advanced photo editing graphic creations.
6th Grade- Students have finally finished their digital photostories and will moving on desktop publishing, a review of spreadsheet functions in Excel, and working in simulations to build rollarcoasters, and run a small business.
5th Grade- We are adding items to our treasure box which will be buried at camp. Using GPS devices students will take co-ordinations and create a Geo Caching trail. Once back at school we will log our trail to camp on Google Earth and put placemarks in to represent, markers to get to camp. Each student will them plan a virtual vacation in Google Maps and upload the url's of points of interest to create an entire virtual vacation. We will finish the year creating reports for our science or social studies classes.
4th- We will analyze and process write original poetry, focusing on ideas, vivid and varied language, form, and style. many of the inline tools we willuse can be found at Read Write and Think
3rd-We will read and analyze classic and contemporary realistic fiction and folktale selections to identify story elements. We will use Bubb.us and Inspiration Mind Mapping software to organize our ideas. Then we will plan a Myth http://teacher.scholastic.com/writewit/mff/mythmachine.htm. Practice the 6 writing traits.
2nd -We will produce a researched magazine article, using a variety of resources, and design and lable or own cereal.
1st-We will write a complete sentence for a purpose and an intended audience.. Use the highleter to identify, nouns and verbs. While practicing this language skills we will gain more practice in the the features of word processing.
