History
Medieval Times are referrrrred to as The Middle Ages and commonly date from the from the fall of the Roman Empire in the 5th century to the beginning of the Renaissance in the 15th century.

The Church was very much in control of the gamut of medieval life. Civilization progressed slowly; science was looked upon with distrust and often, as heresy. Communication between and within countries was tedious and primarily sent word-of-mouth.

5. Pick a Project to present what you have learned about Medieval Times
Medieval Journal - Individual Project Create a medieval person. You will develop this person's personality, his name, and identity. You will decide on his occupation (knight, priest, serf etc...) You will describe his daily life, including the ups and downs. You must create a family for yourself as well. You may make a Coat of Arms or Family Crest. You must provide background information, that is based in historical truth. You need to discuss where you live and the time period. Certainly you will need to include any hardships you had to endure. This project is to be written in the first person. In other words, you must become the character you are writing about, You must write this in the form of a journal or diary. You must have ten entries. Each entry must be dated, either daily, once a week, or one a month. Each entry must be at least 1 page typed. (double spaced, 10 to 12 font size)
Remember, although your character is fictional you must base his life in historical truths. Therefore, you must do research. Links to web cites on the Middle Ages can be found below.
Life on the Manor - Group project
Lords, Ladies, Serfs, and Knights made up the Middle Ages. Create your own characters and put on a one act play depicting life on the Manor. The play can be a drama or a comedy. Your play must reflect life in the Middle Ages. The play should be ten to fifteen minutes long. You must submit a typed copy of the script and a videotape of the performance. With your permission I will show the video tape in class. Each group member may perform more than one part. Costumes and props should be used.
Architecture in the Middle Ages - individual project
During the Middle Ages castles and cathedrals were important architectural structures. Create your own model of a medieval structure, using google sketchup, You must research the design of the structure you created and write a 1 to 1 1/2 page report discussing the castle/cathedral and its artistic and historical significance. With your permission a photo of your work will be posted on this wiki.
